Sharon van Doorene
Sharon is a senior psychologist with over a decade of experience in a broad range of settings, including private practice, EAP, a physical rehabilitation hospital, and the not-for-profit sector. Sharon has worked effectively with a diverse range of clients and presentations including anxiety, depression, chronic pain, adjustment difficulties, trauma, identity problems, emotion dysregulation, stress, grief, relationship problems, and personal development. Sharon’s work emphasises the therapeutic relationship as the core component that facilitates change. This person-centred approach is augmented with the integrated application of a variety of psychological approaches including attachment theory, psychodynamic theory, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Schema Therapy. Sharon is also a board accredited psychology supervisor and has presented training and workshops to trainee psychologists. She has provided lecturing to students at university level, and offered interventions to clients in a hospital setting and organisational settings. In addition to holding registration to AHPRA she is also a full member of Australian Psychological Society.
Sharon views her clients as the experts of their own lives and uses her clinical skills to come alongside clients to develop a joint understanding and way to navigate through those parts or experiences that interfere with a meaningful life. Sharon has a deep respect for the spiritual components of people's lives and integrates this into the evidence-based approaches she utilises to support her clients to move towards a life that they value.
