Dr Theresa Lenta
Dr Theresa Lenta is a highly-skilled psychologist who enjoys working with teenagers and adults, couples and families using a range of evidence-based approaches, tailoring the approach to the client and their therapeutic needs. Such approaches include but are not limited to a range of therapeutic approaches, including short-term dynamic, narrative, existential, attachment-based, solution-focused, interpersonal, family-systems and emotion-focused therapy.
Before training as a psychologist, Theresa earned a Master’s degree in Education with specialisation in Special Needs Education. Theresa worked both in mainstream and special needs education at pre-primary, primary and tertiary levels education as a teacher in the U.K. and South Africa. As such, she has extensive experience with a cognitively and emotionally diverse range of presentations, such as Autism, intellectual impairment, and disability and she is able to provide support and intervention with parents, teens and adults.
In addition to this, Theresa has Masters and PhD degrees and post-doctoral studies in Psychology and has worked as a psychologist in special education and in private practice.
Theresa is passionate about working with attachment issues, relationship and family issues (parenting support and behaviour concerns), special needs, self-esteem, grief and loss, and anxiety and depression. Her therapeutic skills are enhanced by a warm and engaging interpersonal style. Theresa is registered with AHPRA and the Australian Psychological Society.
